Why?

Very little room for error on a roster that has less scholarships than normal. Missing on all 3 hurt us this year in the tournament because we had no quality depth imo.

Bummer. I certainly appreciate how hard he worked and that he stayed with the team the entire year.

Don't forget about Whitt in addition to McMurray. Plus the incoming guards and Shake and GU.

Losing an entire recruiting class will always come back to bite you. We will go through growing pains next year with so many players new to the system and McMurray not eligible until later in the season.

That said, with schollie restrictions, you can't afford to be 4 deep at one spot.

Perhaps this leaves the door open for two bigs - a Grad Transfer AND a JUCO.

Or a high school big like Brooks.

I have no inside info on Brooks, I would think we reached out, but I wouldn't be shocked if he wound up at UNC where most people thought he would go before he committed to Miss St. Seen alot of UNC fans say they want him.

His mid-season HS film is NICE. He is an athletic true low post guy at 6'10 with a developing stretch jumper. Can score off the dribble. Would be an amazing add. Could sell him on we have no low post guy and if he is ready could get tons of minutes.

Probably since the staff knew it was coming, they probably have known for a little while that he wasn't going to be back. I am still hoping M. Bolden at Duke decides to transfer, because us (& maybe TCU) would have a leg up on getting him, since he is from DFW. Getting him and a Grad-Transfer would be nice.

I don't think that would change his situation. Out of the fire and into the frying pan.

I actually like Mcdowell and think he would have cracked the line up as a junior or senior. He is fast - and if develops a more reliable shot he would be valuable. Problem is he is not a true point - and he is not reliable enough at the 2 on his shot to see the floor except as a change of pace D guy.
