Might as well start this now. I wouldn't mind that being our seeding in about 350 days.... :-)

They have us as just a 2 bid league again not including WS. 3 with them. We need at least 4.

Hard to imagine a 4 seed w/o Semi.

I think odds are 65/35 that Semi returns

I was going to say 78 and 33 1/3 but then I remembered that was my old hi-fi.

What's is Semi's motivation to return?

Can think of a few. The biggest being he isn't a first round lock. Mock drafts are all over the place. If he gets a 2nd round grade (despite what some people say) he can come back and become a lock 1st rounder, if he improves his game, and be in a less deep draft next year. Another is he could become a college all-American and a huge name, which Semi enjoyed being in the lime light this year. Another is make a tourney run something he hasn't been able to do. Also, Semi has life goals beyond the NBA. Could get another degree, smart kid and values education doesn't like class, but who does he obviously goes and pays attention and does well(not a big factor). Also, Semi isn't from a poor family who needs the money ASAP where he is desperate to get drafted anywhere and has to go even if he isn't ready. Age isn't a factor he is already considered old another year older (would be same age as Buddy when he went) won't make a difference.

My biggest one to go with he might not be a first rounder is Semi is a different cat. He marches to the beat of his own drum so he isn't like most kids who might jump regardless. Everything I've heard Semi is like 60-40 coming back. I'm not drinking the cool-aid that much, I think it's more 50-50 because he could get a first round grade or guarantee and go, but just telling y'all don't be shocked if he is back. It's not like he is a lock top 15 pick this year and clearly going to go he is more in the 25-40 range.

Best news: Semi is smart and will make a well informed decision and follow his heart, which is all you could ask for.

Yup. I'll be happy for him either way- he's a great guy and we've been lucky to have him for as long as we have. Selfishly of course I want him back, but he needs to make the decision that's best for him.

Absent some "experts" suddenly changing their tune and suggesting he is a mid to high 1st round pick...Semi is and should come back. His return and the additions to this team give SMU and him a chance to honestly make a run...or at least win a game in March. A strong run in a strengthened conference and the postseason will elevate his position in next years draft, against a weaker class. Unless he gets scarred about the potential for injury or worried about something outside of his control, it makes sense for him to come back.

If not, then we really need to gel in the non-conference portion of the season because that will steel the team against a stronger conference.

Either way, I am confident we will continue to grow.

If he does leave, Shake could be our tallest starter!

Semi isn't much taller then Shake to start with lol. We will add at least one big man who will likely start that will be taller than Semi to go with the two freshman bigs.
