Do you think there would be any interest/money to be made in scheduling an early season tournament with the old eight SWC schools from Texas? Granted, the Big XII schools play each other all ready but the schools are now spread out over four conferences and don't face each other enough.
Eight schools forms a perfect tournament field and they could rotate it year by year - Dallas, Houston, Austin, etc. Even San Antonio. God knows it would sell tickets in the major cities, especially in Dallas and Houston, and the nostalgia factor would be through the roof.

Issue with that is TCU, UT, TT and Baylor would not be in a tournament together in OOC. Same with us and Houston, A&M and Arkansas.

Rotate: SMU and Houston
Rotate: Texas A&M and Arkansas
Rotate: UT, TT, TCU, Baylor
Invite Rice every year

You have a 4 team tournament that can be played every year.

I thought about that, and I love it. Make Rice the default invitie. Then invite the highest ranked other three from each conference. Winner is the SWC champion. Rotate the host site between Dallas and Houston.

Next season would be SMU, Baylor, Arkansas and Rice. Let it roll at the AAC - semis Friday evening and the Final Sunday.
