I wasn't at the game (watching it from a bar near the UC campus was a lot of fun though) but when W took off his coat to show his MOB shirt was pretty cool, Even the uc folks thought that was a pretty cool moment.

These are New Moody. From the last Century:

1. Coach Prewitt charging the court when a Nebraska center took a cheap shop at our point guard Zach Thiel. Louis Kelcher came out of the stands, grabbed Prew, and got him off the court.

2. Gene Phillips, anytime he got the ball in the corner along the baseline.

3. Clayton "the Animal" Korver, anytime he pulled his jersey out of his shorts. (It meant someone was about to be in a world of hurt.)

You know, when they discuss the history of Moody, they mention the Stones concert, the tennis matches, the US Presidents who have spoken there, even the NBA playoff game against Seattle.

What I never read about was an event my sister and I attended in the early '70's.

The Milwaukee Bucks with HoF's Lew Alcindor & Oscar Robertson played the Dallas Chapparals in what was the very 1st NBA vs ABA basketball game.

I have great memories besides seeing Jim Krebs and gang demolish the Southwest Conference. Seeing Bob Hope, Louis Armstrong, Kingston Trio and many other entertainers there.

November 13th 1969 Let It Bleed tour The Rolling Stones. Now that's an interesting piece of History.

Have only seen #2 & #3. Wish I'd seen #1. Was that the Nebraska game that went to the clock keeper to determine if the last shot (by Nebraska) was good? In that game Bill Durrett was the clock man who did that to us. Principal at Kimball.

Spring, 1979. SMU beat the vaulted ranked Whorns with our 6'4" Center, Reggie Franklin, completely dominating the Whorns. Oh, and that game the football team sat right behind the Whorns' benched and gave Abe Lemon 'pointers' the entire game. I remember the look of pure terror in the Whorns' eyes looking at the football team during one of the timeouts late in the game. And Franklin had one of the most impressive inside against a much taller defended dunks that complete ignited the crowd. Nothing like beating the Whorns.

Hootenanny? Variety show. Shot for TV at Moody, big deal in the 60's!
