I agree with what PLE is saying.

Agau might prove a very valuable pickup, especially if he gets two years. His skill set is very different than Semi's but there are some very important similarities. Among them I count intelligence, the ability to get up and down the floor and the understanding of a team approach. He can thrive in this system.

I love the free throw percentages we are seeing from the team and did you notice the points in the paint last night? That could simply be from poor quality of competition but jeez....you know LB is grinning this morning.

This trip should prove to be a great confidence builder for everyone. Some eye-opening stats (free throws, rebounds, but also some fairly poor shooting percentages. It seems like any of five or six guys can get hot on a given night.

If Ray and Chargois can provide meaningful minutes I think we'll be pretty solid. I expect a great season from Gu.... he may not shoot Sterling's percentage but I think he can be the same kind of spark plug.

Seems like Landrum came out of his shell a bit by game 3.

Agau did well.

But again, man those free throws! Let's hope that sticks.

couple of interesting tweets from Rothstein.....

Texas falls to Melbourne United by 10 in its second game on foreign tour. Longhorns used same starting lineup, trailed majority of game.

Elijah Thomas with a double-double --- 16 points and 15 rebounds --- to lead Clemson to a two-point win overseas. 15 for Marcquise Reed.

A question for those in the know... How would you rank the level of competition SMU played against in Canada? How would you summarize SMU's overall performance against the Canadian teams?

I'm not an expert on Canadian hoops, but the competition was pretty average. Not near the level of a good NBL team like UT lost to (though Melbourne was at 2/3 strength). The best team we played was the crown league champs which we played in the last game and we beat them by the most. The first two are small D-1 caliber type programs.

Tough to grade our performance since we didn't get to watch, but from what I was told and read the staff was pleased. My observations and from what I was told the reason the first two games were close is we gave up WAY too many open 3's and missed on some rotations. Looked much better in the 3rd game. Can be expected with new guys playing with all different units. If we had been playing to win, substitution wise, we would have handled them all much easier. Gu, Whitt, Chargois and Ray all seemed to live up or exceed expectations.

Others might know more, but this is what I heard w/ random tidbits on certain guys.

I have no knowledge whatsoever but you could tell by the minutes played it was for experience and primarily, as Jank said, for fun.

@JonRothstein
Texas falls by 28 in Australia. Longhorns have now lost two games on their foreign tour. Will be a work in progress. No proven shooting.
