Agreed. He was a 15PPG scorer in our conference as a freshman. Great shooter and scorer. He is an all-conference caliber player.

I remember cussing up a storm at McMurray. We didn't have an answer when we played USF. I think the AT USF game might be up on Youtube. He killed us. We haven't had a shot creator like him in the lineup. And I really like that those highlights show his ability to penetrate and dish. So glad he's finally able to practice with the team.

I've been saying this ever since he committed. It's just a damn shame we have to wait til late Dec, I think, for him to be eligible to play in games. At least he will have had time to practice with the guys, etc. I think he's a starter from day one but others disagree. Either way, he should definitely get big minutes. Our depth this year, I hope, will make up for the net loss of productivity from last year (all those points from Semi and IQ from Sterling/Ben).

It's tough to guess how a mid season guy will be used in the rotation. He has a lot of talent. Not sure what type of PPG he will put up here as he might not get as many shots with our 4+ player type attack but he can score every way which is what you want.

Having two guards like Shake and McMurray could cause our opponents to stay awake at night. Both cold blooded shooters from pretty much anywhere.

I think UConn had the same sort of help when they won two Nat'ls.

Hope he doesn't just play one semester and then goes pro.

Don't forget to add Foster to that group. He is also pretty deadly from the outside.

My (minor) concern about McMurray is how well he can assimilate to our offensive style of play? Yes he put up some gaudy numbers at USF, but he was a volume scorer on a team that needed him to put up a lot of shots because the rest of the team sucked...that wont be the case here. But I think we will definitely need him to be ready to contribute when he's eligible in December as our bench is likely to be all freshmen.

If Gu and the team are playing well I might not mess with the starting rotation and just give McMurray big minutes off the bench. But with Whitt's ability to penetrate, split the defense, and get to the rim and Shake, Jarrey, and Jahmal all spotted up ready to knock down a 3, our offensive sets could be a nightmare for opposing coaches.

I had never look this up before but he shot 39% from the field, 35% from three and 80% from the line in 33 games his freshman season at USF.

I agree with your minor concern.... but look at the passes on that clip. He's got guys around him now so he won't have to carry the weight. Let's hope his assists go up as well as his shooting percentages. Dude can play.
