In the other thread on this board, there's a comment about how Charlie Waters might bring the media around to being more supportive of SMU (which is insane). However, while we're on the subject of media coverage, does anyone have any feeling about the resignation of Dave Smith as sports editor of the Dallas Morning News? Will the coverage of SMU be affected at all?
I know nothing about the guy who's replacing him.

The best coverage we could get right now would be for the DMN not to notice that we are playing.

I think Smith's departure is a good thing .... depending, of course, on the policies of the guy who's replacing him. But I always got the sense that Smith's view of covering SMU was specifically negative, not just a "we'll cover SMU when they win" approach that many editors might take. I'll be very interested to see what the new guy does.
