McMurray clearly wants to score against his former team. Heaved up a four-pointer from well-behind the arc, then tried a twisting drive ... but then stole an inbound pass, split two defenders and scored.

SMU 11, USF7

Cold outside of Moody, cold inside Moody:

SMU shooting 26.3 (5/19) from the floor
USF shooting 20.0 (3/15)

Ponies lead, 11-9

Haven’t seen the team play this bad since the Doh era. Really awful performance so far

pretty sloppy uninspired basketball so far. Just waiting for a run and for our Mustangs to show some life. Needs to come soon.

Those numbers are almost as ugly as the USF uniforms

Jarrey Foster just made one of those plays that only Jarrey Foster can make: Shake Milton drove under the hoop, tossed up difficult twisting layup that missed .... after which Foster sailed up from the other side of the rim, grabbed the ball with one hand and dunked it backward over his own head. Even Foster laughed at the ridiculousness of the play on his way back downcourt.

Check the highlights tonight.

Best part of the play, other than the dunk itself: the "what the hell was that?" look on Ethan Chargois' face on the bench.

2 games in a row with terrible shooting, defensive intensity is there though so I don’t think it’s a lack of effort.

guys are just "off" tonight. Hitting 33% from the field and only 25% from three. I expect them to come alive in 2nd half and put this one away early

Gu has not shot yet. I wonder if he is afraid of losing his nation leading 3 point shooting?

We looked terrible against UCF, but blamed it on their defense, now we look just as bad (maybe worse) against USF. Very concerned about this trend, this team is WAY too inconsistent.

HALFTIME: SMU 28, USF 16

SMU leaders:
Points — McMurray: 9
Rebounds — Foster: 5
Assists — 4 players: 1 each

Believe it or not, USF's 16 points are only the third-fewest given up in a half this season. SMU surrendered 15 in the first half to Arkansas-Pine Bluff ... and I had managed to block out the Northwestern State game, in which SMU gave up 8 points before halftime.
