Duke Transfer

Jordan Tucker (top 100 national recruit last year) is transferring from Duke. I would tend to doubt we would be involved as seems more likely he will head back to Northeast (it came down to Duke and Syracuse for him previously).

However, makes me think of Bolden, who barely played yesterday in the Florida State game. Have to think if he decides to leave after this year it will be quite the war for him between us and TCU. Hunt definitely seems to be buddies with him and guessing Maxey (father and son) knows him pretty well.

Just saw Schneider Herard was transferring from miss state too.

Wow, that would certainly be an interesting addition for this time next year...

Also, Carlton Bragg leaving Arizona State, was in the midst of sitting out the year after transferring from Kansas last Spring. Not even sure when he would be eligible, not sure how that works. Was a very high level recruit when he went to KU a couple of years ago.

He is a very large man. Would he fit our style of play?

Would he have to sit until fall 19 or is he a mid-year?

We would have a pretty difficult time taking a kid mid year this year without some as of now unplanned attrition next year.

You take high-end talent when you can get it - things generally have a way of working themselves out.

Don’t know if we would be interested in Tucker, but if so I offer the following reasons why SMU is a great fit:

1. We are Transfer U.

2. We have an excellent track record taking Duke guys who were buried in the depth chart there and turning them into stars.

3. We have an excellent track record taking transfers named Jordan and turning them into stars.

Just sayin’

Tucker is likely heading to Georgetown or Syracuse, very doubtful we would be in the mix for him. Herard is intriguing but agree on the question of fit. Can't teach that size though. Obviously the home run would be Bolden if he leaves, although my guess is if he does leave it won't be until after the season. If he does though, would have to think SMU and TCU would be the most likely destinations.

Not sure Bolden would see SMU as attractive compared to TCU. Jank & Co appear to be looking more for multi-skilled guys vs traditional low post big men, but will have to watch to see how Agau is used as the season wears on. Always room for a rim protector/rebounder

Agau is a backup at best. Not a good comparison.

You think Bolden would start in place of Chargois...assuming Jank stays with a lineup full of "medium" skill guys? My point was that I think Bolden would have the same role Agau does so I don't think SMU would be an attractive destination for him.

We have three years ahead of a IMike/Chargois front line.
Agau returns next year.... and with a year of health that might really mean something.
Put Hunt in the mix.... maybe Ray. Young probably redshirts?
Given our scholarship situation I really don’t see that we HAVE TO get a big unless he’s too good to pass on.
Perhaps in the 19 cycle we get a transfer big.... ala I Mike.

Edited to add: one benefit of the scholarship restrictions: easier to keep track of the roster!

I would take Bolden in a heartbeat. He would be a good low post to compliment Chargois as a high post. But I don’t think that is going to happen.

Agau is a SR GT and does not have another year of eligibility after this season...unless I missed something?
