So shake was named preseason POY, and I know this board has a contingent of peoplewho are very [deleted] shake. But I dug into some stats going into Conference play and It seems that it's still Shake's award to lose.

Shake is currently 6th in scoring (16.7 ppg), 1st in Assists per game (4.7 apg which is amazing considering he doesn't play point a significant amount of time), 5th in As sits to TO ratio (1.9), 8th in steals per game (1.5), and he's 4th in 3-pt made and 12th in 3pt fg%, he's 7th in Ft % on a high volume. Pretty much killing it in every stat you look at for a guard.

I have been so distracted watching our new players develop that I have taken Shake for granted. The point guards sometimes overshadow players like Shake but I am glad that Whitt and McMurry can handle those duties most of the time so that Shake can do what he does best. Those passes to Foster would qualify him as legit POY standing alone.

I think we’ve all taken Shake for granted some. He is the backbone of the team. He plays more minutes than anyone. He makes fewer mistakes. He’s not often spectacular and does have quiet scoring stretches.
But he is solid. Wouldn’t trade him for any other guard or wing in the conference.

Cincy and SMU are so balanced that there is not one stand out in terms of scoring. Gary CLark is playing great ball right now. The WSU guy (Shamett) at 17 ppg might be the leader right now. But there is a lot of ball to be played right now.

I think that the poy will come from the team that wins the whole thing. Each team has got great candidates.
