Landrum was very smooth, I see him as replacing Emelogu. Douglas was dynamo once he got his confidence. It was amazing to watch because he had been giving up open 3s and air-balled a corner 3 where you could tell he didn't want to shoot it but finally got a catch and shoot 3 at the top of the 3 and was perfectly set and it was a swish. Next time he did the same and you could tell he felt better after that the rest of the game. I really think we need to do everything possible to develop him because he will be our leader in 2 years. Chargois wasn't great but he was effective despite only contributing that crucial 3 towards the end of the first half.

Chargois and Agau is a nice rotation and Douglas and Landrum are stepping up and providing much needed minutes. Our frosh still have a long ways to go but definite improvement last night in a road game no less.

This. Ethan has just disappeared and brought next to nothing. I was encouraged early last night as he looked good on the glass, but not sure he had another rebound after first few minutes. Akoy looked very good of course, and kept us in the game on the interior but with nothing from Ethan (or Whitt), too much to overcome without your two best players. Ethan has the potential to be a very good player but man, he has a lot of work to do in the off season to get himself prepared to play a FULL season next year.

They have changed the role of the 5. They want them banging down low and not just an option on the outside. So it is playing more to Akoy's strengths than Ethan. Ethan will be fine. A little up and down as a frosh should be expected. Also, the wear and tear on a big is more significant as the season goes along, so outside shooting bigs become less effective at the end of the season when their legs are more tired.

Hope you are right. Other than ECU, there have been no ups since conference play started so I think "a little up and down" is being extremely generous (usually I'm the one accused of that!). He likely played near his ceiling early and hasn't been close to that lately. Consistentcy, even near the middle of those, would be a nice improvement for next season. He needs to get stronger and obviously build the stamina.

Removing Foster and Shake from the floor has also reduced the need for the other team to sag their center and give him the open shots up top. we don't have anyone on the team who will take advantage of an empty paint.

Douglas will be fine and Landrum shows flashes. Wish he'd try to get in paint more. Nobody is forcing slides for easy dumps or kick outs.

Ethan is the product of losing a TON of weight, then getting very sick w flu, and coming back weak. Part of his process was to shed baby fat, then build it back up. Right now, he's a corpse and needs this thing to end, so we can build muscle and training table the kid. His skill set is immense.

Jumping on the topic from my other thread, this makes a TON of sense. It's a "wall" but not in the normal sense the phrase is used. Thanks.

Well said on Ethan. We saw his skill set and how good he can be, he just needs the off-season to come so he can get rest, rebuild, get stronger and better.

I'm calling these last few games Ethan's "sophomore slump." He was far enough ahead so that he can experience it now, while the entire team is hurting, instead of next year. With a full off-season of strength and conditioning he'll be an animal.

I went to practice Saturday to interview Tim Jankovich. At least for one day, the reports about Douglas and his work ethic were on display. Almost an hour before practice, he was out on the floor working on ball handling drills, and in the linked video, that's Douglas shooting behind Jankovich.
