Let’s look at the next 4 game stretch. UH, Cincinnati, Memphis, UCF. If the team does well in that stretch then good NCAA possibilities are there. Important 4 game stretch for sure,

this team would overachieve to win 2 of those next 4 and still be at .500 in conference play

We are just . . .

injury recoveries
additional scholarships
transfer eligibility
freshman maturity
two recruiting classes
and refurbished coaches offices away from a competitive program . . .

oh, and don't forget the ticket price increases and re-seating.

NCAA tourney talk is silly at this point. I love this team, but they are not going dancing this year. Terrible timing on the re-seat plan that appears to have alienated and pissed off a lot of season ticket holders.

Crucial stretch. Be interesting to see how the team responds and plays.

Would probably need to go 3-1 to still have NCAA tourney hopes, unless we went 2-2 and beat both WSU and UH at home o finish the season. We would still likely need some help to get in at that point. Besides that likely an NIT team, unless we won the conference tourney.

The committee takes injuries into account, especially Shake being a conference MVP candidate. The Tulsa game won't hurt us come selection time.

That said, the only way a 4th team in this conference makes the tourney is if they finish fourth, have quality wins, and do a decent job in the tourney. Or they have to win the conference tourney outright.

In order to make the tournament, SMU will need to either win the conference tourney, or they will have to finish third/fourth outright and make it to the finals.

Houston has 3 losses left in them, which means we only have one more loss left to give. Third place probably isn't going to happen unless we can sweep them.

UCF will end with 8-9 conference losses. Memphis is the one to watch - they have a relatively soft schedule and could end up with 7-8 losses.

I think to be in the hunt for fourth, we are going to have to go the rest of the way with only 2-3 losses.

Basically, if we lose anything outside of Cincy, Witchita, @Houston we aren't finishing in 4th, and won't have a shot at the tourney unless we make a miracle run in ours. Lose just those three, or swap one of those wins with another loss, and I think we sneak into fourth and can make the tourney with a really good run. If we lose 2 or less the rest of the way, we are battling Houston for 3rd and I think we get in the tourney as long as we get to the semifinals.

What do I expect? I think the team will have great effort and show it's pride. We win one of those three tough games, but lose two more we probably shouldn't and finish the season in 5th with 9 losses in conference and the only way we go to the dance is a miracle run in conference tourney. Even with Shake, we are missing one more consistent outside shooter and we don't have anyone who consistently drives the ball hard to create for themselves and others, which gives us an inconsistent offense. And to go with that we have an average defensive team and are a below average rebounding team. When the outside shooters are on, we win, and when they aren't we lose. And that gets you beat in road games you shouldn't lose.

Interesting post. "competitive program"? Yes, we definitely have a competitive program. Do we all want it to improve? Absolutely. Is it competitive now? Absolutely.

And how could anyone on this board forget about the re-seat? There are a few posters that post about it on that same thread, saying the same things over and over, on an almost daily basis. After we lose a game it's almost a race to get to that thread to see which one can bump the thread first.
You guys don't like it, we get it. Move on.

No wonder why so many don't come around here any longer..

Don't sleep on Tulsa. That's not a bad team and they have by far the easiest schedule finishing up. I could see them finishing 11-7 and the rest of the "middle of the pack" teams finishing 10-8 or 9-9. Yes, they have to make up a game on both Memphis and UCF, but those schools have a much tougher finish and I hope we can add to the difficulty of their schedules.

Glad SMU does not have a game until Feb 8th so Shake will have time to better heal up.

With both Memphis and UCF coming "back to the pack" at 5 losses, that 4th seed is really up for grabs

Temple gets the road win at Tulane (without Frazier) so both teams now have 6 losses. Gives us more hope I suppose for sneaking into the 4th spot but we still have the toughest schedule to finish
