Crazy that it’s a one possession game given how poorly the team has played save for McMurray.

Whitt slipped on that defensive series. If he doesn’t lose his balance we would have gotten a stop.

Good effort at the end there... too little, too late though.

great effort by our guys and a much more entertaining game than I had expected but the reality is that this SMU team may not win another game this season. Hello to a 15-17 finish?

We should still best ECU and USF, but no guarantee. Especially since both are away.

*I see hope*

Landrum can beat people off the dribble. When he learns to elevate and shoot at the free throw line instead of kicking it out, he is going to be a very effective player. He did it once in this game, but then kicked the rest of the time. If I am Jank, I show him that play over and over again and encourage him to shoot the ball as often as he wants.

Both Douglas and Landrum can create space off the dribble, and both are a good enough shot to force the defense to come out on them. If they will start taking that mid-range jumper, it will force some help and the kickout will be there. It will fill the void that was created when teams adjusted to Whitt because they don't have to defend the three, they just sag and protect the mid-range. This will open the perimeter space for Chagois,, Ben, and Shake to get the open looks they had earlier this season.

Second half was much better because we didn't turn the ball over. The adjustment above will allow this team to become an effective offensive team again, before Shake comes back. Add Shake into that mix and this team can make a little run.

Defensively, until we have numbers we should play a 2-3 the entire first half, and the switch between the 1-3-1 and man the entire second half. You can see the team has so much more energy on the offensive end when they are playing with energy on the defensive end. McMurray is awful in zone defense. He forgets his responsibilities. When they are allowed to play with energy, the length of Whitt and Douglas comes into play, and Landrum is a much more effective defender. If we switch defenses with 7 minutes left instead of 4, we win this game.

In case you didn't hear Memphis shot 76% in the 2nd Half and SMU still closed the gap from 10 to 3-that's a crazy stat

Don't bet on beating ECU at their place unless we have 8 guys. They are much improved and won at Tulane last night

The positivity here is surprising.

We’re a 9 seed...in the AAC tourney

This is disappointing - Gu played his [deleted] off with one hand. Most guys would not have played at all, especially as we now have little to play for. But instead, he went out and played again despite the limitations he's dealing with due to injury. AND, he basically once again played the 4, as he has since Foster went down. The guy is a two guard playing power forward but does it for the good of the team, banging down low with guys five inches taller who obviously outweigh him. Not sure if he will get any opportunities to play overseas, but if not this also is marking the end of his career. But instead of being selfish he's filling the role that we literally have no one else that can fill and busts his [deleted] while doing. Sleep walking? Give me a break - he deserves an ovation every time he takes the court.

The comment about Agau - he is not one of the 3 healthy players that Jank refers to.

Agau was completely gassed last night - you could see it towards end of first half especially, that he just had little left in the tank. Was fortunate Ethan could play in the 2nd half otherwise not sure what the heck Jank would have done. Jank mentioned after Cincy that he didn't want to play him as much as he did but had no choice, and he was worried if he would be able to bounceback.

Agreed - obviously he could not shoot. He passed up a ton of open looks that he usually would have popped from three. He was out there to pass the ball and rebound. And he played with a lot of heart and courage. Like a guy who has 2-3 games left in his college career. I will be there on Senior Day regardless of record to pay tribute to Ben and Shake for sure.
