Unless you're talking NBA talent, freshman are always gonna be the contributing the least... not sure why people keep harping on this. Chargois, despite his late season swoon, is one of the best freshman I've ever seen at SMU. The jury's still out on the others... but - once again - that's pretty normal.

I like Chargois, but this is hardly a late season swoon. He’s been off for virtually the entire conference play. Douglas with just 1 point against a very average UConn team.

You call them freshmen, they have a full season under their belt.

Jank has some real soul searching to do about next seasons roster.

But I guess we'll agree to disagree.

Does it really matter?, they’re losing either way.

I’m just proud of their performance today.

Remember how many years this team went without even a conference tourney win????

Pyle and Wilfong might see action tomorrow depending on how Agau is doing.

Landrum actually played pretty well although his 3-9/1-5/0-1 shooting remains inadequate. He did have to play 33 minutes before fouling out so that's asking a lot from a kid who should only be spotting our guards a few minutes each game. Agau played a career game but with only 2 post players, we really need more production from Chargois. With the depleted roster, Douglas simply has to be better so Gu and McMurray don't have to play so many minutes. Bottom line is that we got to 17 wins on the season and after losing at USF I did not think that possible.

Freshmen in name, not experience.

Douglas had a put back for a bucket, not sure why the box score doesn't reflect that or who they credited it to. They even replayed it and complimented him. I thought Landrum played OK until the last 10 minutes, then he was a huge liability.

I'll take left-handed Shake tomorrow please...

Best thing about this year's frosh (assuming they all stay) is that they have 3 more years to improve and become more capable contributors. Most college players make their most significant improvement between years one and two so I will not judge these guys until we see them next year. Having said that, we can only hope none of them (with the possible exception of Chargois) are starters next year.

I didn't see them giving Agau any ice-pack or other medical attention once he got to bench though. He was just sitting with his teammates without showing much pain

The biggest jump normally comes after the first full off-season, so I think it's still the appropriate term.

Plus, they are literally freshmen. At what point in the year do we upgrade them to sophomores?

Our roster has problems, but this crop of freshmen isn't significantly worse than any that we've seen. Ethan's PPG are only marginally lower than Shake's freshman year. (Shake/Jarrey compose the best freshman class we've had though. No argument.)

Sterling Brown and Ben Moore might disagree...and they both stayed 4 years and won more games at SMU than any other players in our history. Agree that Jarrey and Shake compare favorably but would sure love to see both play 4 years here.
