Nice thought but every time they expand it seems to just let more teams from the bottom levels of the top conferences in.

I've got no problem with 72 teams and more regional play in events. We could find ourselves playing in one of those first fours some day.

I am in favor of reducing it to 64 teams.

Well get right on that as soon as the Selection Committee is equalized

Will the next step be a double elimination?

I wouldn't mind the expansion so much if they made a rule that a team has to at least have a 500 record in conference play unless they win the conference tourney. Really don't want to see a 6-10 SEC team in the tourney over a second place team from a non p5 conference.

Agree. I'd like to see that .500 record requirement (in regular season conference play), but it becomes a problem with conferences like the ACC when they don't have balanced schedules. I think Syracuse finished 8-10 in ACC play but proved to be a tough out in the tourney last year.

Not in favor of this, for the reasons mrydel stated above.

There are about 351 Division I teams playing basketball so 72 teams would be about 20.5%-I'd be for it if most of those extra team aren't coming from the Power Conferences. A lot higher percentage of football teams play in playoffs, New Years Day and other bowls I would consider major bowls

Curious, what is the lowest seed to ever win the Tournament since it went to 64 ? My uneducated guess would be #10? So those additional schools would only serve to lengthen the season for said schools, much like the “minor bowls”in football. So, may be a nice gift to some low majors.
