Chargois obviously came out of the game strong and then got sick and never recovered. If he keeps the strong work ethic he showed prior to last season by getting in shape, he will be quite a weapon. I actually would compare him to Ben Moore - a big who can handle, but with better range. And, like Moore, soft on defense as a frosh. He had much more impact as a true freshman than Moore did.

I think Ray brings motor and physicality. It's unfortunate that he got hurt. Scouts liked what they saw in the preseason, and he was about to start getting more minutes in the rotation when the injury hit. Not position-wise, but style wise I would compare him with Sterling Brown. He is going to be the energy guy. For all the crap he gets on the board, he actually averaged more PPG than Douglas in less playing time and didn't have the opportunity to show improvement in the second half of the year. He was waaaaay more effective offensively.

Douglas is a guard/wing who can shoot. We have all heard about the great work ethic, which is really good to hear about. When I compare him to recent players like that who came in, he is way ahead of Tom Wilson, but wasn't nearly as effective as Foster his frosh year. And even though his defense is much better than KF, his offensive game was much worse, even before reworking KF shooting motion. Even if you compare him to Brown, Brown's movement off the ball as a frosh was much better, he shot way, way better, and was a better rebounder. Even though Douglas plays good defense, it wasn't with the same energy or physicality as Brown. Douglas isn't even close to the player Brown was as a frosh. I'm excited to see what he brings in the first few games of the season - the coaches obviously think a lot of him. But he is the biggest recruit to be concerned about.

For all the crap Landrum gets, he got around the same PT as Douglas. And as poorly as Eli shot, he shot way better than Douglas from the field, averaged more points, and had a better assist to TO ratio. He had super quick hands and great elevation. He certainly ha physical limitations, I get it, and we have too many small guards, I get it. But he was certainly better than Sed or any of the other point guards we tried to bring in recently. And the team hasn't backfilled his PG spot yet. IF the roster stays as it is, we could have used his energy off the bench this year at the point.

As I said before, we are going to be in a tough spot if Ray, Douglas, and Chargios end up being busts. But I don't think that will be the case. Douglas is the biggest risk, but if the staff is still high on him after chasing other guys off, that says a lot to me.

A few other complete misses based on their Frosh year stats ... Jay Poerner, Kato Armstrong, Markus Kennedy...

It would really be beneficial if Douglas could improve his FG% to 5/9.

One local possible transfer that is still out there is Djery Baptiste. Transferred from Vanderbilt.

Not big numbers, but good size. Looks like a good candidate for a year.

RE: the Vandy Transfer: Djery Baptiste (he has 2 years of eligibility)

He used country songs, especially George Strait songs, to learn English when he moved to the United States at age 15.

Perhaps he found out that George Strait is a Texan and not a Nashville guy. Love the interview wearing the George black hat...

George Strait is definitely the man. He's probably the only country western artist that I would either see or listen to.

I met him selling sticks in Fort Worth once

My mom hit him with a grocery cart at Tom Thumb in Austin. She swears it was an accident.

Frankly I didn't know who he was when I assisted him - but the office clericals at the front desk retorted do you know who that is? And I honestly didn't know who George Strait was back in the eighties either

I know there are some dissenting opinions on William Douglas but I do believe he will prove he belongs on the court.

I like what you did there.

The evidence suggests you are right, but next season will be the judge.

I totally love this guy but I think he's just quitting hoops for now to finish his degree.....at Vandy.

Can anybody confirm this or otherwise?
