Not them. Us. It's our team.

This is the single most negative I've ever seen the ponyfans boards. It's gotten to be downright irrational. Pull yourselves together.

Go Mustangs!

That assessment is a little harsh but this job would be attractive to a bunch of quality coaches. How many times has the guy who succeeds a legend failed? Jank is in a tough position as all our fans demand is more 25-30 win seasons, something SMU has done only a handful of times in it's entire basketball history.

Nobody is demanding 25 or 30 games. Are you Jank’s political advisor or something? You kind of sound like you are about half the time. Lol.

Just saying that it is pretty rare for a guy to succeed a legend successfully. LB is a tough act to follow and I'm not defending Jank...just saying he might not be a lot worse than a lot of other guys who came after Doc Hayes since the late 60's. Other than a few good years under Dave Bliss when SMU was cheating better than most, our bball has been pretty mediocre. Now that LB produced some Bliss-like years, there are some on here that seem to think we are suddenly on a level (or should be) with the blue bloods of college hoops and are disappointed we aren't landing 4 and 5 star players. Whether it's under Jank or someone else, I just want to see the program reach the post season (whether NCAA or NIT) year after year and actually win some post season games (oh...and how about packing Moody regularly along the way) before I'm going to see SMU as a really attractive program to recruits.

Well, Jank is not the coach to get us there

Certainly appears to be the case

I guess that was one of the 6 tonight? Foster isn't up to an all-conference level, but he is certainly above average defensively and is good on the offensive boards. We have 7 players who are legit and at this level. And then we have 3 projects (Young, White, and Douglas).

For what its worth, that is about as deep as we have been since LB took over. A 7 player rotation and 3 fill-ins when we get in foul trouble. And its where just about every decent mid major is at. We are missing the top end player in that mix, but Whitt, Chargois, or McMurray can fit the bill on any given night.

Next year, we still have Whitt, Chargois, and Mike back as starters. Hunt adds another starter. We need to recruit two strong guards, and if we do that and add to the 3 projects who hopefully develop a little more, that is again a pretty good team. Plus the A&M transfer. We have one of the two guard spots filled with the JUCO player. We need to recruit a very good frosh guard. If we don't make the season and fire Jank, I think there are a ton of coaches who would welcome the opportunity to come in and recruit a stud guard to come play at Moody and instantly compete for the conference title.

It's not near as bad as some are portraying with 3 quality inside players with 2+ years left and the Aggy transfer probably playing in 2020-21-when we could 4 quality inside bigs. Fill in around them at Guard on an expanded roster and we could be very competitive for a conference championship. Mike, Chargois and Hunt are great building blocks which many doomsdayers are ignoring. Bandoumel is hitting 54% of his FGs, 44% of his 3 Point FGs and 80% of his FTs. Good shooter- could nail down the SG spot. Find a graduate transfer PG or even a quality JUCO PG or a top freshman next year and we're ready to roll. There are going to be opportunities to fill that spot although maybe not with the traditional freshman recruit.

Gonzaga has had 2 Top 50 Classes according to 247.com since 2012-No. 20 in 2016 and No. 45 a few years before that-I've always thought we have to get it done in the non-traditional way too

Most of the mid majors try to do it like Gonzaga. Most fail. Some are up and down. Just have to see what happens in the long run here.

Just to add to this... a lot of the blowup online has been around some recruiting decisions made by Jank. But what would you rather have in next year's class? Another inside player to add to that 3 quality big + Aggy + Young +Ray? mix? Or would you rather have a JUCO guard that is shooting lights out and fits a position of need?

Maybe we need to tap the brakes a little on that judgement until we see what this team does (NCAA or bust) and whether or not he can fill the (admittedly large) hole in the next recruiting class of another quality guard.

Jank hasn't shown the ability to recruit to a NCAA tournament level. Now he needs to prove he can coach the team he can get to a NCAA tournament level. If he strikes out there then he will be replaced.
Thankfully, our boosters are using the NCAA tournament bid as the metric rather than "improving" or "competitive" as we have done in the past.

With the addition of Jacey I really think both Douglas and Ray are gone before this fall.... opening one or two more spots.

Don't know why anyone would think Cook has a guaranteed career here, regardless of medical issues.

Agree with you on Douglas and Ray.

Not sure how “not too bad worst case scenario”= guaranteed career?

Maybe in Jankspeak it does.

And did you see the tie Jank was wearing last night? Hideous and not SMU worthy.
