There are only seven players on the roster that can perform above intramural level; really only six and a half as Foster is nowhere near 100%. They will be starting walk on level players next year. No coach in his right mind would take this job.
I guess that was one of the 6 tonight? Foster isn't up to an all-conference level, but he is certainly above average defensively and is good on the offensive boards. We have 7 players who are legit and at this level. And then we have 3 projects (Young, White, and Douglas).
For what its worth, that is about as deep as we have been since LB took over. A 7 player rotation and 3 fill-ins when we get in foul trouble. And its where just about every decent mid major is at. We are missing the top end player in that mix, but Whitt, Chargois, or McMurray can fit the bill on any given night.
Next year, we still have Whitt, Chargois, and Mike back as starters. Hunt adds another starter. We need to recruit two strong guards, and if we do that and add to the 3 projects who hopefully develop a little more, that is again a pretty good team. Plus the A&M transfer. We have one of the two guard spots filled with the JUCO player. We need to recruit a very good frosh guard. If we don't make the season and fire Jank, I think there are a ton of coaches who would welcome the opportunity to come in and recruit a stud guard to come play at Moody and instantly compete for the conference title.
