I appreciate that this post, unlike lots of others previously put up here, at least recognizes that LB’s departure was a mutual error. Let’s be honest: his stay at SMU was fairly long by LB standards, and it worked out exactly as planned but for the fall-off in recruiting.

Anyone else remember way back when before the SMU coliseum was named for a donor that one suggestion was to name the building - or something - for Matty Bell?

So far as the court is concerned I am fine with naming it for another big contributor but if I named half of it for a BB coach it would be Doc Hayes.

That is not to say that LB should not be remembered in some way. One possibility would be the ticket offices - that might remind some people of the last time seats were a big deal and why.
