We could hire the Pope and the world will say we will cheat. If we make a move this year I see no reason why we should not go after Pitino. He will not be available next year. If we do not make a move until next year I have no idea who will be out there.

Pitino coaching in Greece. Says he’s eyeing the NBA but surely he’d be interested in college if an AD and president would hire him after the scandals of two years ago.

Didn’t Larry just return after a short stint coaching in Europe? It’s not for everyone.

I am all for Pitino. I don't really care what people say. He will create the right kind of splash and can flat out coach. People will always say SMU cheats no matter what, so I say to heck with them. (I really don't think RGT would allow this. He is too concerned with SMU's good name to do the right thing)

I tend to agree with the end of your post.

I'm on the Rick Pitino bandwagon.

What is the $$ threshold on being part of the decision making, I wonder...

I'm convinced Jank is coming back next year. But whenever he leaves, it's hard to imagine SMU even kicking the tires on Pitino.

Sadly I agree, and I will watch the ship slowly sink.

Hart doesn't really make the hiring, and firing decisions , Turner is to S.M.U. what

Jerry Jones is to the Cowboys.

I think most of us (who are not "in the know") are now assuming Jank will be back for at least one more season. The real question is what the roster will look like next year...who returns, who the newcomers are and whether any of them will be "impact" guys? I really hope that Jank, his staff and the returning players are able to prove all of us naysayers wrong but for now, I will just prepare to watch Houston embarrass us tonight and wish I felt better about next year.

I would rather not think about that one.

yes and we can rejoice it'll only be a couple more years until we start making a turn-around...one more year of Jank and then we gotta give the new guy a couple of years to get his guys in place...so just wait a few more years
