See you guys in 12 months...

....here’s what will happen over the next year:

- Jank will continue to recruit low-major scrubs
- Whitt will grad transfer
- We will be horrible next year, I’m talking like 10 wins bad
- Attendance will be atrocious, back to the days of the 1,500 with only a handful of students

Everyone can see it coming, except for our admin/boosters. Seriously, does any D1 program have a dumber combo of boosters and administration calling the shots than SMU?

Put me down for the under on both 10 wins and 1500 (actual attendees) per game. This will be scary- bad basketball.

we will be lucky to have 1000. plus our OOC schedule will likely include even D3 schools in an effort to get to 8 wins.

So we will win more then 10 games just given the padded OOC schedule and thanks to Moody. Attendance will be bad but not 1500 bad simply as a result of institutional inertia among the remaining season ticket holders. Think it will still be a poor season and I think Jank is let go at the end.

Shaka Smart will likely be gone at Texas after next year. I kind of feel that he could be successful here at SMU because he could get back to having his teams play like they did at VCU. He cant run his full court press because he has to many short term players at UT as a result of his recruiting success. I think he could build teams here mostly with top 200-50 type players with most becoming upperclassmen. That could be really salty in the AAC.

I need to thank Hart, Turner, and Sharp for letting me see the light.

I can still be a fan and watch the good games on TV with great food and not spend $10,000 per year for two season tickets.

Cannot wait for next year.

I'll go because I love to go. I will, as I always do, continue to hope that the coaching staff and admin turn it around and get the program moving upward. I have a sneaking suspicion that they will but there have been a lot of harsh lessons learned (and we struggle with harsh lessons).

Good luck to everyone in the offseason. With any luck when basketball rolls around again we will be in the middle of an awesome run in Football!

And what will happen when coach SD is no longer being paid by another school? Will our 'big bucks' supporters turn their backs on the fball program like they did on bball?
IMO it would have likely cost 400-600k this year to get rid of tankovich. Yet the 'big bucks boys' refused to step up to the table and do the right thing.

No-one should be shelling out money for any of this. If the school cannot afford to run its football and basketball programs then it shouldn't have them. Fans should be left to buy tickets. It's not our job to fund the program, and that includes the very generous folks like David Miller. This whole setup is a mess.

SMU's endowment is $1.6B and tuition is $250K or something. Lack of money is laughable

I absolutely agree. SMU needs to own their sports programs.

The new TV deal will soon be bringing in a much improved revenue stream as well.
Sure would be nice if we had a relevant basketball team playing a decent schedule so we're not continually farmed over to ESPN+.

Would also be nice if we had a marketing program but our AD probably can't even spell the word.

I'm more disappointed that Buzz will go to A&M and we are going to lose any chance we had with him.

I don't see how the program meets expectations next year, but I would hold off on the 10 win comments until we see exactly what JUCOs are coming in.
