How much does it hurt?

Seeing UH breezing through a first round game.

The 3 seed sure helps but that wasn’t even a game.

It doesn't. I was very happy. The only thing that spoiled the day was watching Cincinnati give up the lead and lose to Iowa. The better this league is the better for SMU. Whether we take advantage of being in a strong basketball conference is on us.

Same old early exit. Now you don’t have to.

UCF woulda - coulda - shoulda BEAT duke.
So close.

That would have been the statement for the AAC.

I thought the non-call they made on the initial UCF drive was the exact same play they called Tako for a foul on Zion.

And then a clear push in the back on the offensive rebound from the missed free throw.

UCF got hosed.

Missing the fast break dunk hurt too. Would have gone up by 5.

The refs had a chance to aid Duke with the review of the shot clock question and they did not. The missed dunk and obviously the missed tip in at the end were the difference.

Houston got the seed they deserved - though I despise their fan base, I am happy to see an AAC team in the Sweet 16.

It hurt more seeing UCF, a team also making their first Tournament appearance in several years, break through their first game jitters and get a win. I watched the UCF-VCU first round game with a friend who went to UCF and, while I was happy for him and the conference, I left feeling a little empty inside and wondering when SMU will be back in the dance.

All I want to see is one NCAA Tournament win. Anything beyond that is playing with house money. It makes 2015 and 2017 hurt that much more. We couldn't close.

The missed shots at the end brought back a lot of regret from out two first round losses.

In all three instances things started rolling downhill before the final determiners: the goaltend call and the missed final shots.

You’ve gotta slam the door when you gave the chance.
