Why is he still here?
1. There's one dude who really runs the bball program, and he decided he didn't want to cut the check to buyout Jank's deal.
2. The AD staff bought and believed the "sanctions and injuries" line. Even though it made the rest of us want to throw up.
3. Jank stays if he makes the NIT, which is why the schedule now features "names" (Georgia, Vandy, UNLV in addition to Georgetown) but those teams aren't actually that good. It's part of an effort to appear to have a tough schedule without actually having one. The rest of non-conference will be Doh-type bottom feeders in an effort to boost the OOC record. We also aren't going to play in a holiday tournament because that's been deemed too risky.

I know some believe we've had a "good" offseason, but you would be mistaken.
Our three top scorers on the sub .500 team from last season are now no longer on the roster. (McMurray, Whitt, Foster). So yes, we got some good people on board since the season ended. But they are merely replacing people -- not true "additions."
When preseason predictions roll out we will rightly be slotted in the bottom half or bottom third of the AAC, which is an embarrassment for where this program should be.
The power brokers will let the season play out and are crossing their fingers it works, because renewals are down and Moody is going to be even emptier than last season.

You people have no idea how difficult this is apparently. We pass the hat every year to the same 5 guys and they keep us in business. You cant keep going back to that well forever - eventually this will have to be sustainable.

I think therein lies the frustration. We already had this thing humming along until the momentum was crushed by poor recruiting, poor scheduling and very poorly timed and executed re-seat.

Exactly. Having SMU season tickets was a re-sell money making machine a few years back. Nobody is going to be angry if you adjust pricing in that environment. But to do it when they did takes a special kind of shamelessness and/or cluelessness in relation to the trajectory of the program - and said downturn, by the way, could have been mitigated tremendously but for the school's incompetence.

To be fair, Chargois, Mike and Hunt all scored more than Foster but yes, we lose 2 of our top 3 scorers (and the only guys who could create their own shots) so it's hard to say the roster has been upgraded...that remains to be seen. At least they will be able to practice 5 on 5!

Foster was injured much of last season and not quite himself so the standard is not as high to replace his production from last season. Our other players are more experienced and I have faith that McNeil or Jolly will be equal to or better than McMurray. I think we are slightly better than last season which could make a huge difference in win total given we lost so many games by a very small margin. Time will tell.

I see tanka vich's lapdog is still trying to help him cover his ineptitude by bringing up old excuses that haven't been relevant for some time.
