How the F did SMU basketball get a feature in a big news article, let alone from Seth Davis. Haven't seen that in a long long time.

"I’m hearing that SMU basketball is guaranteed at least 28 wins this year. In your opinion, could it be even more? Thank you! — Tanner L.
I called up Mustangs coach Tim Jankovich and read him Tanner’s question. He laughed so hard he had a mini coughing fit. Then he cracked, “I can’t hear you. We have a bad connection.” Shall I take that as a no, Coach?"

Good to know Jank has high hopes

Do we actually have 28 games on the schedule yet?

For those of us that don’t/won’t subscribe to the Atlantic, what does it say?

The athletic :). Very different from The Atlantic.

First off, if you are sports fan, pay the 50 bucks a year and get the Athletic. It is awesome, quality journalism. Much better than anything you will see on ESPN, SI, DMN, anywhere else. Hands down.

They cover the question that was asked above. Seth talks about the great season, the crap that followed, the restrictions with numbers, and of course "couldn't practice."

Talks about the incoming talent. Jank calls the team "not a young team, but a new team" that needs some time to gel. Seth thinks 28 wins isn't going to happen, but the NCAAs are possible. According to Jank, the roster is very good, and if we get the two waivers we will have a very good team.

LOL...a steal at $30 for the year.

That'a a good read but for the fact that Jank's still getting mileage from the 5 on 5 sad country song.

It also points out why we shouldn't expect home and homes with California State schools any longer.

We seriously need to get those waivers. It will be a really fun season to follow if we do.
We should be pretty good. If we don't we'll just be giving the Jankster a new excuse.

We need waivers for Darius McNeil and Kendric Davis in order for them to be eligible to play this season. Otherwise, they will need to redshirt.

Two ways of looking at this:

1) With football waivers pretty much done maybe they get down with the hoops waivers over there at NCAA-ville.

2) Some Football waivers came AFTER the start of the season.... will hoops waivers roll in a week or to after tip-off?

I seriously hope it's #1.

1) It is the NCAA, so whatever they decide and their timeline will result in a WTF
2) I think colleges had to wait for school to start and verify that students were enrolled in the fall before issuing a request for a waiver. So, that delayed the football process. Now that handling football is done, you would expect them to handle basketball. But, again, it is the NCAA. So, yeah.
