TBD. Davis and McNeill both have waivers pending. Just purely a guess, but I think one get it and one won’t. My pick is Davis will because he seems the least likely, and we’re talking about the NCAA.

We could put a pretty competitive team on the court if both are granted but definitely need at least one of those guys active this year.

New excuses for this season:

So many new players.

Waivers not granted.

And the winner: “We have so many guys there aren't enough minutes to go around.”

schedule is weak, but might not be a bad thing for a team with so many new faces

The schedule is weak, apparently (by NET # from last year basically the same) but prior to last season the expectation was that we would more or less run the schedule and then Southern Miss happened in game 2, then Lipscomb, Bradley and TCU. For me that means that it is acceptable to have the same schedule in terms of strength but you need to win them all.

It's not a glory lineup or one that is going to impress the polls, but its one we can show improvement against. This is where SMU BB is right now, and for those of us who predate LB, it's pretty much where it was. I will still be there as often as possible. Of course I won't be buying tix from SMU, but I still love my Ponies.

I’ll disagree with the part that this is where we were pre LB. We were in an old, dated arena, in a much weaker b-ball conference and there were absolutely no expectations from the fan base. Pre LB you could count the number of regular b-ball posters on one hand, and you we were lucky to have 1500 at Moody on a good night. If I remember correctly the couple of years before LB arrived I was one of maybe 250 people who had season tix.

It is no secret I dislike Jank, but this year’s roster has a lot of talent - Mike, Chaggy, Jolly, McNeill, Hunt and Jasey are all quality to upper level AAC talents. The schedule is still embarrassing and for that Jank gets a VERY short leash. His ridiculous excuses will not fly anymore. It is time to put up or see ya. There is enough talent on the roster to finish top 5 in the AAC and compete for a tourney bid. Again, no excuses this time.

Question 1: Do we have 5,6 or 7 who can play?
Mike, Hunt, Chaggy, Jolly, Jasey (December), then Davis? And McNeil?

If you look at it that way even the cupcake OOC during the first semester starts to make sense if only 4 of those 7 are playing.

Question 2: Who of Bandoumel, Douglas, Ray, Smith, Young or McBride can contribute. If things don’t go well waiver wise and this bunch can’t help? Ouch.

And yes, I forgot about CJ..... a long time ago.

I agree with LA....with Davis and McNeil we are competitive in the conference unless someone (hi coach!) totally screws it up.

Please.... give us those waivers!

Sadder -

I think Bandoumel, Ray, and Smith will all contribute as backups on this team.
So - I think we have 8 players who can play and if Davis & McNeil become eligible
we will have 10. I might even throw in CJ because I think he will be better than most
think. But then, I am the eternal optimist.

Sadder,

I really like Band. I think he has high end talent, but I was very puzzled by the lack of interest from other schools. Now we know it was the issue with classification. My gut says he will only get one year but I think he will be a quality combo guard coming off the bench.

Ray is maybe the biggest mystery to me since following this program. I loved the guy coming out of HS. Hell, his dad was a solid NBA player for a decade and one of the better rebounders in the league. He has the bloodline and the ability but is he healthy? I have no clue. Is he mentally strong? I have no clue.

I think Smith was a nice get. He is extremely athletic. Love his upside. I also like McBride even though he was not heavily recruited. I think both have a chance to be in the rotation.
