Incredibly exciting times, looks like we are circling the drain now.

Should have clarified that we could pack 10k into Moody back in the Doc Hayes and even the Bob Prewitt days. The Mavericks were responsible for the 1st downsizing and changed the courtside seating. Even though Moody was the same design as Cameron Indoor, it's capacity was slightly larger and I attended games in the early 70's that were SRO and had more than 10k in attendance. I think the Ira Terrell vs Texas Tech's big man (Bullock?) drew those kind of numbers. I remember that as a student, if you didn't get there before tip-off, they put student overflow up in the rafters and man that Moody got loud at times!

they used sit on the floor around the bleachers-and the bleachers allowed a lot more fans to squezze in-definitely had some 10,000 attendances back in late 60s-Terrell 70s. The Fire Marshal started to limit that practice. There were probably 3 times more students at big games than in the hey-day of the MOB

Moody wasn't quite today's Cameron Indoor but I remember plenty of games as a student where we stood the entire game (sitting only at halftime) and it was really hostile for any visiting team. I can specifically recall our guys beating a ranked Nebraska team and Clayton (The Animal) Korver whipping the crowd into a frenzy when he would pull down a rebound, slapping it hard in two hands and clearing the area around him with elbows and hair flying. Even in those days, Moody was not consistently packed, SMU students are alumni being what the way they are.

We used to get there very early around 72 - 76, and sat in the front row of the pull out bleachers.
When A$M's coach Shelby Metcalf threw his chair across the court, and started a big fight, we had to
jokingly restrain ourselves from running across the court to join in.
May the forth be with us.

Game of inches, right? That was so close to having that pass tipped out of bounds leaving only 3 seconds to inbounds and get a shot off . Just a great finish for Bandoumel and the Mustangs last night.
