YES!! without a doubt. Time for the AD and money guys to step up and save this disaster. Get a big name coach who can and will recruit and build a winning program. Both Pitinos fit that bill.

I would love Pitino but is he hireable at this point?

No. The NCAA would rent an office in Moody.

at least there would be somebody there. young pitino could be hired. Are there sanctions on R. Pitino. Just because the NCAA is ready to jump on him is no reason to disqualify him. IIRC we had a few issues with LB. and the negative results were because our AD didn't provide him with good attorneys and a compliance officer.

Somebody like Sampson or Haith who knows how to get things done to win at this level.

Don't know. I'm not aware of any NCAA ban and not sure what the status of the whole bribery scandal might be but if that remains pending, I doubt the powers that be at SMU would have the stones to go after him. I just wonder who he's already talked to (long article attached but scroll to the end for that part of it)

A two-year extension made men’s basketball Head Coach Richard Pitino the highest-paid University of Minnesota employee in 2019, earning $2 million — up from $638,140 in 2018.

I have a brilliant idea. How about hiring Dad with son as 'HC-in-waiting'
