Pitino would land us on probation and right back where we are in 5 years. And you guys would be crying about how awful his replacement is.

Didn't he win the NIT?

I thought we were aiming much higher than NIT appearances.

Let's see:

Ricky Jr has landed two top 50s, a #62, and a top 100 national recruit in his last four classes and numerous top 200s to fill out the classes beating out Kansas, Xavier, Georgia Tech, Texas, Arizona, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and A&M for recruits. He may just be recruiting the DFW area better than we are and he lives in Minneapolis (see reference to two top Dallas recruits above).

Non conference wins against the likes of Texas A&M, Utah, Washington, and Oklahoma State (2x), Clemson in last two years vs. what Jank has done with his OOC schedule.

Numerous top 25 wins in last couple of years including #3 Ohio State and #19 Michigan this year. Swept #13 Purdue last year and beat a few other top 25s.

2nd Round of NCAA tournament last year. First round of NCAAs 3 years ago. 1 NIT Championship.

Imagine what he could do in AAC vs the Big10 Schedule he currently has to deal with...

He has made the NCAA tournament twice in 7 seasons along with one NIT appearance. He has accumulated 3 losing seasons in that span. I think we need to aim higher. If not save our money and let Jankovich do that. After all he does have 1 NCAA tournament appearance in 3 seasons. A potential NIT appearance, and only one losing season in these four seasons. Give him an extra 3 seasons and he might make the NCAA tournament once and even with two additional losing seasons would match Richard Pitino's resume. Jankovich has earned his dismissal, but we need to go big, otherwise it's a waste of money.

Kind of hard to compare as Richard Pitino was not handed a Top 25 team in his first year with 3 future NBA players on the roster by his predecessor.

It was the Pitino recruited players that led MN to the 2 NCAA tournaments. It was the Larry Brown recruited players that led Jank to his NCAA trip.

Pitino arrived with a roster good enough to win the NIT championsip against Larry Brown's SMU team. Jankovich also inherited sanctions. I'm not defending Jankovich. I'm simply saying that SMU can do better than Richard Pitino. We need his father!

I’d like to know how many of the remaining Jank apologists here subscribe to 247. Anyone who has a sub over there knows what an absolutely abysmal effort Jank has put into recruiting over the past three years. It’s insulting to SMU, it’s insulting to the donors and it’s insulting to the fanbase. It’s one thing to lose, it’s another thing to not even try.

As the saying goes, “if you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention”

I think Jank needs to go, but to be fair wasn't recruiting hurt by the Larry Brown NCAA sanctions and the recruiting downturn just snowballed from there?

Probably helps. Another potential excuse.

It could hurt since he failed to win 20 games.

Might not help him as much as $30/bbl oil will help him

Rick P ... No Bueno for me. I think he is a P..S and morally clueless. The General ... he has lost a step or two, father time has not been kind to him. Separate of everything else that comes with him.

- Tommy Amaker
- Danny Manning
- Steve Alford ... speaking of the General
- Bobby Hurley
- Craig Smith
- Russell Turner
- Scott Nagy
- Matt McMahon
- Always a Grant Hill fan
- Shaka did well at VCU, UT is over his head (peter principal) ... lets go get Rick Barnes from the other UT. He knows Texas.
- Avery Johnson
- Heck this is 2020 and the PC world. Lets go get Kim Mulkey from Baylor. She is a competitor and loves a challenge. I bet she could succeed with the men's team.

Thunder Dan Majarle was fired tonight by Grand Canyon. Hopefully we’ll join that list.

Thunder Dan’s resume:

7 years
0 conference titles
0 NCAA appearances
0 NIT appearances

Prob why he was fired.

I will admit that Jank has a better resume.

Bryce Drew has a far better resume than many listed above.
