Houston, Memphis, Cincy, SMU

Surprised to see SMU this high? Don’t be. The Mustangs won 19 games without a senior on the roster, sweeping Memphis and beating Houston at home. They also add Cal transfer Darius McNeill, who averaged 11 points per game in the Pac-12. Tyson Jolly, the 6-4 guard who began his career at Baylor, has star potential. But Tim Jankovich has a deep, balanced roster that should fare better in close games because of its experience.

Thoughts? I would be disappointed if we finish out of the top three and aren't in the race for the championship. NCAA bid is a must.

I’ll be shocked if we finish ahead of Wichita. Marshall will find a way. We’ll probably win another 19 or 20 games with an abysmal non conference schedule, go to the NIT, and Jank will ink a multiyear extension and sign a full class of guys all outside of the top 300 nationally. Get excited!

I think we'll get a boost thanks to experience and the addition of McNeill is big. We'll win 24-25 games land a 7 seed in the NCAA tournament. Hart will think it's mission accomplished, raise ticket prices in a down economy and extend Jankovich to a lifetime contract (it will seem that way to most savvy fans).

SMU Basketball - The whole is far less than the sum of its parts.

I was curious about that, too. Wichita State only lost 1 guy ... although he was their leading scorer.
