If Mike comes back, I think that is the right assessment and the consensus among the experts should be SMU very near the top of the conference and back in the NCAA tournament.

There were some big wins last year as well as many games that were blown at the end and should have been wins. In theory, the team with another year of experience and maturity should be able to get over the hump this year. A much improved non conference schedule will also toughen them up for conference play.

Agreed. With McNeill and whoever takes CJW's place on the roster and whatever Jahmar Young adds after his redshirt year, plus the extra year of experience for all, this team should win some of those games that got away last year ... let's hope.

They have the talent to be a top 25 team and make the NCAA tournament, no doubt. Unfortunately, the coaching staff does not have the ability/desire to achieve top 25 status or an NCAA tournament birth regardless of the players' talent level. Rothstein must not have watched the last half of the season this year missing those floundering, rudderless, confused performances not to mention an all time epic collapse.
