Plus he's got Kendric Davis as first team all conference and Darius McNeil as an impact transfer.

If McNiel plays like he did at Cali and the OSU guy is eligible this tieam should be really good...just wish Mike would have stayed.

Agree. With all 3 of those guys, no excuse for that roster not making it to the NCAA Tourney. McNeill adds more scoring and ball handling to offset the loss of Mike but I think Anei being eligible is the biggest key to the 2020-2021 season. He could be a difference maker for a team that was lacking a consistent low post defender last year.

We still have Jank so projecting us to finish second is ridiculous.......

A lot will depend on how much five-on-five practices we will be able to have with any potential restrictions or illnesses.

I don’t think so. Jank’s primary problem has been getting the players he needs to win. Looks like we have a few now. I don’t find the prediction a stretch at all.

The talent is there to win the conference, but the way we ended the season does not inspire too much optimism. I think a fourth place finish is more commensurate with the talent and results of the players/coaching staff on the roster.

1. Houston
2. Cincinnati
3. Memphis
4. SMU
5. USF
6. Wichita State
7. Tulsa
8. UCF
9. East Carolina
10. Tulane
11. Temple

Assuming conference tournaments are held, a top 5 finish would probably mean a 1st round bye with 11 teams competing this season, so that has to be the goal. Any finish higher than # 5 would be an accomplishment. Anything worse would be a huge disappointment, assuming everyone on the roster is eligible and stays healthy.

It's just unbelievable to recall that with LB's players in 2016 and 2017, Jank was 39-5 -- including wrapping up the 2017 season with a #11 ranking. I want those days back again. If we don't see some significant sizzle this season, e.g. second in the conference and a Tourney bid, I think it's time to move on.
