Zhuric Phelps is a point guard for Coach David Peavy at Duncanville High School. As a junior, Phelps averaged 7.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals. The three-star signee was on a Duncanville team that finished 29-5 and had reached the UIL Class 6A state semifinals before the tournament was canceled due to Covid-19. As a sophomore at Midland Lee, he averaged 15.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.7 steals. The Duncanville native played AAU for Coach TJ Thomas with the Texas Impact 4:13. "Zhuric is a tremendous young man! He has great character, is strong academically and a terrific basketball talent. He had an impressive summer with Coach TJ Thomas and Texas Impact and is poised for a big senior season with Coach Peavy at Duncanville High School. We are very excited to announce Zhuric will be joining us at SMU next year." - Tim Jankovich

Jalen Smith is a point guard for Coach Steve Reece at Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Florida. As a junior, Smith averaged 11.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.3 steals and shot 49%. Smith played AAU for Each 1 Teach 1 United.

"We are very excited to have Jalen Smith signing with us today. Jalen comes to us from Orlando, Florida where he played for Steve Reece at Oakridge High School. He is a very athletic guard who uses his 6-9 wingspan to defend at a high level. He also has a reputation for making threes and is a talented playmaker. He is a strong student in the classroom and is a welcomed addition to our SMU family." - Tim Yankovich

I would not expect either to be immediate impact guys, but both could turn out to be solid 4 year players. Just never know...remember how the expectations were higher for Douglas vs Chargois when those guys were signed.
