Kendric Davis Selected AAC and ESPN Player of the Week, Mustangs Receive Votes in Top 25 Polls

Kendric Davis was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week and selected as the National Player of the Week by ESPN's Jeff Brozello on Monday. Davis averaged 17.3 points, 9.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.3 steals per contest in three wins last week. The junior guard scored 21 points in the Mustangs' (4-0) win at Dayton on Saturday. Against Houston Baptist, Davis matched his career high and The American single-game record with 13 assists, while also adding 20 points and six steals with no turnovers. The preseason All-AAC first-team honoree earned his second straight mention in The American awards after getting a spot on the Nov. 30 AAC Weekly Honor Roll.

SMU received a vote in Monday's Associated Press Top 25 Poll and USA Today's Coaches Poll. The Mustangs improved to 4-0 with a 66-64 buzzer-beating win at Dayton on Saturday. This makes it seven of the past eight seasons that SMU has been ranked or among others receiving votes in the AP Top 25.
