SMU with 14 assists on 24 made FGs so definite improvement in this 2nd half

Scary sight: forward Jayden Gardner — ECU's only double-digit scorer with 13 points — stays down for several minutes after crashing to the floor and hitting head. Eventually walks off, limping, holding his back and visibly wobbling.

63-46
4:44 to go

Tough D on Gardner all night trying to take him out of the game and he still puts up a very quiet 13 points for him.

Can't remember an SMU player who sees and delivers better alley-oops than Kendric Davis.

Anei is a nice addition to the team. Especially on defense. He has three blocks tonight.

At times tense, but a solid win in the end. Hopefully we keep improving as the season goes along.

Helps your perimeter D when you know there is a rim protector camped out behind you

That was really impressive last night.

First half was rusty as expected, with the layoff and finals. Slow pace of play and missed a lot of open looks.

Dominated the second half. The depth on this team is crushing, and the ability to play strong defense the whole game really wears teams down. All three of the bigs had very good games. Jasey and Chagois were actually great defensively. There is a ton more activity now on defense than there has been in years past. And when we run the offense at a high pace so that players can take jumpers in rhythm, we are very effective.

The energy that Anei and McNeil bring on the defensive side of the ball is contagious.

If we add Jolly to the mix and send Douglas to the bench, this is a really, really scary rotation.

This is a very good team. I think we are one of the top two teams in conference now, and will easily make the NCAAs if we play up to potential.

I'm still very cautious about this team. It seems great on paper but it would be nice to see how we do against a tough opponent. Hopefully 12/30 against Temple gives us that look right before the big one against Houston. Glad to be undefeated.
