White Scores 18 In Loss At Temple

PHILADELPHIA (SMU) – Kayla White matched her season-high with 18 points to lead SMU in scoring Sunday. The junior was one of three Mustangs in double figures, but Temple took the win, 73-57, to remain unbeaten at home against SMU.

"This is a tough place to get a win," SMU head coach Travis Mays said after the loss. "I felt like we gave them a lot of confidence in the third quarter. The effort was there, but we started the second half with a lot of fouls and that put us behind the eight ball."

Leading by three at halftime, 31-28, Temple (1-3, 1-0 American Athletic Conference) outscored SMU 24-6 in the third. The Mustangs (0-6, 0-2 The American) applied full-court pressure for most of the fourth quarter with a great deal of success. SMU was limited in its ability to press in the third due to the foul trouble. The Mustangs outscored the Owls 23-18, put the gap was already too great to overcome.

Amber Bacon scored 13 points for the Mustangs, and Reagan Bradley finished with 12, season highs for both players. Bradley also had a team-best four assists and matched White with six rebounds. SMU is now 0-7 all-time at Temple.
