Davis Named To Lute Olson Award Mid-Season Watch List

BOSTON, Mass. – SMU's Kendric Davis is one of 35 players named to the 2020-21 Lute Olson Award Mid-Season Watch List that was announced on Monday. The Lute Olson Award is presented annually to the nation's top Division I player and the recipient of this year's award will be announced in April.

Davis is leading the American Athletic Conference in scoring (19.3), assists (7.8.) and assist-to-turnover ratio (3.7). Nationally, he is second in assists and 14th in assist-to-turnover ratio. Davis is among the league leaders in field goal percentage (52.3, 7th AAC), 3-point percentage (41.2, 8th AAC) and free throw percentage (86.0, 3rd AAC). He has five or more assists in 29 of 36 games as a Mustang and in eight of 10 this season. He was also named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, his sixth weekly honor of the season.

Davis is the third Mustang to make the Lute Olson Award Watch List. He joins Nic Moore (2014-15) and Shake Milton (2017-18).

The award is named in honor of Hall of Fame coach Lute Olson, who won 776 games in 34 seasons, 24 of which were spent at the University of Arizona. During that stretch he led the Wildcats to 11 Pac-10 Conference titles, 23 consecutive NCAA Tournaments, four Final Four appearances and a National Championship in 1997.

The Mustangs are 8-2 on the season and 4-2 in conference play. SMU is playing at Memphis on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT.
