Do They Even Care About Women's Basketball??

I saw on Twitter today that Rhylie McKinney is going to enter the transfer portal and go play somewhere else.

I am surprised that she ever showed up on campus to start with. What is it going to take to get a new head coach in there and get this program headed in the right direction? I understand they shut it down due to Covid concerns, but the fact is they were 0-6 and probably would have continued on that same path. You would have thought the article regarding his leadership would have been enough to get the ball rolling. Obviously not.

Why would anyone want to be a part of this program?

WBBALL is non revenue and they missed on Travis Mays....so no money to buy him out thus they just ride it out until his contract is up. No donor interest in the program.

Currently it might be the worst program SMU has ever had and that is saying something.

This falls on the board of trustees at this point. Clearly the school missed on Turner and he missed on Hart who missed on Mays. We need to clean house!

Let’s scrape the entire campus and start over.

It used to be good.
Mays has made it worse than it ever was.

He came with so pretty good cred coming out of ut. What went wrong other than him being a total jerk.

Wasn't he highly recommended by UCONN's coach - Geno? I remember hearing about a very glowing recommendation from him during our search.

I am a high school coach in the area and I have never met a college coach as arrogant as that guy. Was not surprised at all when the DMN article came out about the program. His top assistant that he brought from UT with him not much better.

Being arrogant when your win rate is like 30% is an achievement.

Didn't he then get rid of her?

Coach Smith Bradley known for coaching up the bigs, like Froling.

She was the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Trinity University in San Antonio from 2005-2012. Meanwhile, from 2000-12 she owned a camp, clinic, and skills training company called Team Player Sports. Sounded like a good gig b/w TP Sports and being Trinity's HC but then she became a special assistant at UT for two years and then Assistant Athletics Director for two years before joining SMU in 2016.

A local player's parent just told me "Can't imagine that staff isn't gone. Rhyle McKinney was a big recruit for them and just entered the transfer portal."
