The league and especially SMU must be amazing this year if the Southland Conference Player of the Year is not even a starter.

1) From previous tweets, Jon clearly is tight with the SMU staff. I bet he got a hypothetical from them.
2) I think it is actually interesting, because it allows the brothers to play together, has enough scoring, and pairs a longer player (Band) with Davis defensively.
3) It gives you a second team unit with a creator (Phelps) and a scorer (Nutall) that could be pretty dynamic.

In short, I actually don't think that starting lineup would be bad. And I think the league is up for grabs. Houston a clear favorite but the next three are all in the same group.

1) Memphis should challenge Houston at the top.

However the mad scientist decides to work his starters and rotation he best get 60 of out of Davis, Nutall and the Weathers Bros. They each have averaged above 15 ppg.

Phelps should help immensely in resting KD.

We live or die with our bigs this season. Clark has to be effective. Young must continue to progress, taking minutes from Jasey. Jasey needs to make a layup once in awhile. If all of that happens they’ll be fun to watch and possibly a post season team.

If all that happens they will be a Sweet 16 team. We made the NIT with much less talent last season.

I could see us having a really nice team and still finishing fourth in the conference.

Hopefully, The American will make some noise in non-conference play and we can be a four-bid league.

Our conference is pretty deep in its top six or seven teams. Also, if Nutall’s coming off the bench, I expect he’ll be a great sixth man.

Yes, but against lesser competition
