Kenpom is generally acknowledged to be a better early-season indicator:

Oregon 53
SMU 76
Vandy 93
Dayton 95
UNLV 135
Mizzou 153

That, by the way, shows you just how horrific Dayton’s early losses were. They’re a damned good team.

And, by the way, we are ranked 50 in the ESPN BPI. Sagarin’s got us at 81. Sports Illustrated, 60.

I really hate the finals break.

We need to be top 2 in the conference. That means beating Memphis or Houston. And not losing to anyone else.

Everyone assumes Houston will be stout all season long and Memphis' win vs Bama last night reminds us all that they have the talent to beat anyone. If SMU could finish 3rd and upset one of those teams in Moody and beat everyone else (allowing for some road losses against the 3rd, 4th & even 5th place teams) and make it to at least the semis in the AAC Tourney, we just might get that 3rd bid I expect the AAC to garner...depending on how the rest of the season plays out. Obviously a lot can change

Houston, Cincy, Wichita St, Memphis, and UCF are all top 60 in NET. The odds have increased that the AAC will get three teams in. If we manage to finish third, it will mean that we have managed to beat some of those 5 teams, so our NET will have the opportunity to increase. Oregon will be a QUad 1 loss by the end of the season.

SMU moves up significantly to 85 in the latest NET rankings. If we can move up just 10 more spots we become an all important Quad 1 game for visiting teams.

We’re still 50 in the BPI and up 12 spots to 69 per Sagarin

Oregon got upgraded to a Quad 2 loss and Loyola Marymount got upgraded to a Quad 3 loss. We really need Missouri to win some games so they can move up to a Quad 3 loss too! We still haven't beaten anyone with a pulse but clearing these bad losses is vitally important to having a chance on Selection Sunday.

With SMU's win over Tulsa we are now #70 in NET making us a Quad 1 road game for visiting teams and a Quad 2 home game for home teams. Significant news for our team's at-large chances. SMU is now an AAC scalp. Hopefully we don't get scalped though!

Now #49 BPI, #63 Sagarin.

Moving on up. Would really help if UCF could beat Michigan tonight

UCF comes back and wins by double digits. That will help. Glad we get them at Moody Sunday because they look like a tough matchup and will be really tough in Orlando. They look like a big, physical team
