Easy stats to help understand the team

We have a poor transition defense - 111.
We have a solid half court defenses - 59th in the country with a 42% effective field goal rate.

47th in the country in transition offense. 125st in half court offense.

When we get stops in the half court and then can run, we score and then we force the other team into half court, get more stops, run, and build leads.

When we slow down, go into half court, we miss shots, the other team runs, and scores on our transition defense. Then we have to go play half court, slow down, and struggle, and then get run against again.

This is why we are so streaky overall as a team. Just something to watch.

Also - we are 228 in the country at non-rim FG%. 35%. The mid-range is not kind to us, which is why we struggle in half court sets. We rely very heavily on Davis getting to the rim in the half court.

UNLV and especially Vandy give up a high percentage of field goal attempts in transition. Loyola does not. And Dayton does not. Just something to watch on Wednesday. We are more likely to have to play a half court offense in that game.

We aren't going to match up well against taller athletic teams like Oregon. That's what made the LMU game in particular such a disappointment

Teams with the length to defend KD, especially in the half court, are going to hurt. The LMU game, they don't allow transition baskets. Playing at a slower pace like that is going to hurt us all season.
