Jasey undergoes surgery

Postby PonyPride » Sat Jan 15, 2022 8:41 pm

Most who follow the Mustangs, but just to confirm: SMU announced Isiah Jasey's season is over.

From the SMU men's basketball Twitter account:

"It is with great sadness we announce captain @isiah_jasey suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Wednesday’s game. He underwent successful surgery and is expected to make a full recovery. We are grateful for his contributions and look forward to honoring him on senior day."

Have to feel bad for Jasey. Tough way to end your career. Just hope he can fully recover.

Above and beyond the obvious impact this has for Jasey, it means more will be asked of Tristan Clark, Jahmar Young and Franklin Agunanne going forward, which can not be overlooked, especially since the Mustangs' coaching staff has made a concerted effort to manage Clark's minutes because of his injury history.

Probably going to see more "small ball" like we did today with Marcus Weathers being our "little big man". Going to make for some tough matchups, that's for sure.

Gotta hope Clark can stay healthy. We could really be up a creek, especially in the conference tourney.
Agunanne makes Jasey seem like Bill Russell.

I agree, Have Marcus Weathers start in Jasey's place and Clark can fill in where needed at the first sub rotation. Can bring in Agunanne and Young as needed to slow down an opposing big or gaurd the rim.

With his size, perhaps Jasey would have a chance to play overseas if he wanted to give it a shot?
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

Ma Weathers reminds me a little of the great Larry Davis from back in the day.
Similar studs.

Always loved that term Small Ball. Means you have the most athletic team on the court and a great chance to win.
