Kendric Davis, Marcus Weathers Selected NABC All-District

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (NABC/SMU) – Kendric Davis and Marcus Weathers were named National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District on Tuesday.

Davis was on the NABC All-District 24 first team and Weathers was on the second team. Davis was previously named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and unanimous All-AAC First Team. Weathers was also selected All-AAC Second Team.

Davis is averaging 19.4 points (1st AAC, 33rd NCAA), 3.9 rebounds, 1.6 steals (12th AAC), 4.5 assists (3rd AAC) with a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio (9th AAC) and hitting 43.6% on FGs (4th AAC), 86.1% on FTs (2nd AAC) and 37.4% on 3-pointers with 2.4 threes made per game (7th AAC).

Davis has been on the 2021-22 Naismith Trophy Midseason Team, Wooden Award Watch List, Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award Watch List and Lute Olson National Player of the Year Watch List. He was named the AAC Player of the Week three times this season and made the AAC Weekly Honor Roll seven other times. This is his third straight season being selected NABC All-District and All-AAC.

Weathers has seven doubles-doubles (2nd AAC). He is averaging 12.8 points (16th AAC), 7.5 rebounds (2nd AAC) and 0.7 blocks while hitting 51.4% from the field and 70.9% on free throws (13th AAC). He is also 21-59 on threes (35.6%). He was named AAC Player of the Week twice this season. He is also all-conference for the third straight season after earning All-A-10 honors at Duquesne in 2019-20 and 2020-21.

The Mustangs are a No. 1 seed in the NIT and host Nicholls in the first round at Moody Coliseum on Wednesday at 7 p.m. SMU is 23-8 overall, has won 20 of its last 25 and finished the regular season with a 16-0 mark at Moody Coliseum. SMU went 13-4 in American Athletic Conference play to finish in second.
