Made it to the NCAA round of 32 last year. Jank's only March Madness was with Larry Brown's future NBA players, and he didn't make it to the Round of 32.

Hodge sounds very good on his own. Not sure how much of UNT's recruiting success has been due to McCasland vs. Hodge. Maybe this is a situation like TX Tech last year where McCasland will be successful elsewhere and Hodge will also be a great success staying put.

In fact, Hodge is credited as being a defensive guru like Coach Adams at Tech. "UNT leads the country in scoring defense with an average of 55.3 points allowed per game. Hodge has handled the Mean Green’s defense as its de facto coordinator the last three seasons while using the system Mark Adams employs at Texas Tech."

Saint Peter's coach probably goes to Seton Hall now that their coach has left for Maryland.

Interesting look back to May 2020's top 40 under 40 coaching list:
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... basketball

#1 now at Cinci
#2 and #3 fired
#4 Mike Boynton at OSU. Would you be happy with his results? #5 in conference two years in a row after going 20-34 the first three years in conference.
He's in his fifth year with the Cowboys. Last year they went to the round of 32 in the NCAAs but are ineligble for postseason this year.

Like McCasland, he had a great (three year) run at SFA and won a game in the NCAAs.

so if we were to hire G. McC why not bring Hodge along with him. I suspect we can make both a good offer and we are a much better place to coach than that denton school

He can go anywhere he wants in a big conference. He will not come to SMU lol. He is from Jersey and went to Seton Hall. In no way shape or form will he take a job anywhere but the Big East or Big 10. Book it. Unless a blue blood comes calling.

I read your comments to say that we could not hire a better coach than the one at St. Peters. And of course I do not believe that is true. I think there are coaches just as good or better.

This guessing game is just that, guessing, until we know if Jankovich is being brought back, and if not, what the budget will be for a new coach and staff. With enough money available, a lot of coaches are interested, no matter where the job is.

For one it would be expensive. McCasland has a buyout that looks like it’s 1.44 mil. He’ll get a sweet salary bump from his current 600k base. But Hodge will want better coin too. Any offer to Hidge would have to be better than what NTSU would pay him to be head coach.
