I find myself at a stage in life where I no longer can in good conscience make the necessary sacrifices that this position demands,” Jankovich said. “I feel a strong pull to spend more time with the people whom I have unfortunately neglected the most over the years — my dad, my family and my friends.”

As a guy who retired prematurely to help care for his parents, I can relate to Jank's comments and I've always thought highly of him as a person. You had to know he was in a tough position trying to replace Larry Legend, who certainly appears to have made basketball a higher priority in life and is still coaching in his 80's.

Based on who we have been linked to I would have preferred extending him.

As someone dealing with a parent facing several health issues, I appreciate more than ever the need to be with family. Enjoy the time with your dad and the rest of your family, Coach.
