Just posted on twitter that he is heading to the NBA draft. I wish him the best. Hope it works out for him.

He can declare and still come back if scouts convince him he’s not ready.

I have a feeling he won't do that again.

I think he comes back. He won't get drafted and I don't think he makes an NBA team.

K.D. is a terrific college PG and if he returns, he's going to finish high up on the list of career records at SMU but I agree it's not likely he would be drafted by any NBA team because they will see his height as a negative. Like Nic Moore, his professional future might be overseas although I will confess I don't know G League rosters well enough to know how many 6 footers are competing in that league. Going through the process will at least give him an opportunity to get feedback that will help him chart his future. Selfishly, I hope he's back at SMU next season.

My order of preference is:
1) He gets drafted in the 2022 NBA draft
2) He comes back
3) He plays professionally

As long as he doesn't play NCAA elsewhere I will be happy. I want him to be known as a Mustang.

Sure would make Lanier's job of building his first roster easier if he got KD back ... and hopefully Bandoumel, too.

My hope is that he gets in the NBA. If he doesn't go, it isn't because they want him to work on something. It just means he doesn't have an NBA future. Smaller guards have it rough, ask Nic.

At that point, it is just a question of whether he wants to hang at SMU in Dallas another year and let his kid grow up close to home or not. I wouldn't be surprised if he stays so that he can buy some time for his child to grow up near home before taking him overseas.

Transfer portal is college athletics' version of free agency. K.D has responsibilities that most college players don't so why not gauge your value in the open market? Coaching change could be an additional factor as he was obviously very comfortable with Jank. If he doesn't return to SMU to play for Lanier, I just hope he doesn't wind up at TCU or another AAC school

No shot he’s not going to at least go through the Draft evaluation process before transferring to another school

If he doesn’t go to the NBA of course I’d love for him to come back. But I won’t have hard feelings towards him.

He gave us his heart for several years and lots to cheer for. And, I hope he always considers himself a Pony and welcome on the Hilltop, regardless of what plays out.

Back to SMU or pro.
Please don't go replace Sasser at Houston. Please.
