Be careful associating that dollar sign with our friends in College Station. Jimbo’s gonna come after you.

The hollar house was Baylor's old arena. SMU played Texas there in the 70's for the SWC title

The Hollar House on the Brazos was G. Rollie White Coliseum in Collie Station. It is still part of the book store there on campus. The Ags now play in a state of the art Reed Arena.

The Heart of Texas Coliseum was in Waco where Baylor played. It was a dump. There was an annual rodeo there, sometimes between basketball games. The basketball floor was terrible. Jim Wacker's son, I think his name was Mike, played for UT and was a very good player. He slipped on that floor and broke his knee cap which effectively ended his career.

And yes, we played Texas there in like '72 or '74 for the SWC title. Only one team from the conference got to go to the tournament. We lost by a basket, but it was a great game. I think Clayton Korver was on that team. He was an animal. And I believe that was his nickname.

That 71-72 Team was solid..16-11, 10-4 in the SWC, with a 7 game SWC winning streak during the season. Lost to UT in OT by a bucket, as you said. Korver, Delzell, Trippet...might have some of those names wrong, David Miller, Coach Prewitt. Seems like we hit a dry spell for a few years after?

I remember in the late 80s when the Aggies were not very good but did SMU a huge favor by upsetting Rice in the last game of the season to give SMU the conference title outright.

In the second to last game of the season, SMU made a furious comeback against Rice late in the second half at Moody and then won in overtime to pull even with the Owls in the standings with one game to go. Was such a fun game with an amazing atmosphere. All the SMU fans were going crazy during the comeback (I believe it was around a 10 point comeback in the last two minutes.)

In the last games of the season, SMU won and the Tony Barone led Aggies, who were either at or very near the bottom of the standings, upset the first place Owls to give SMU the title outright.

I remember Tony saying that John Shumate owed him a steak dinner for that. Tony was quite the character!

Good times!

Those were good times. I went to every home game during that time period.
