Coach Doh Days are Back

Postby SmooBoy » Wed Dec 07, 2022 11:32 pm

Yes, Lanier needs a chance to recruit, etc etc etc.

But we are right back to lean days of being dominated while Moody is no longer a home court advantage.

Wow the LB days went by way too fast.

Any statisticians here?

What's the greatest freefall in men's basketball history? From MOBBING people in 2013-2016 to being ranked NET #295 today. Only SMU...

Just look at what's happening to Louisville this year for a comparison of "painful"

What makes it particularly frustrating for me is years ago Buzz Williams rumors to SMU were floating around and we got a Marquette poster here.

I laid out all the positives of this school and how we were a sleeping giant.

LB finally proved what so many of us knew, the potential of SMU & Dallas.

then our incompetent leadership allowed jank to run this program into the ground. Lanier is the result of this free fall.

Funny, but pre-NIL / Portal, coaches were typically given a 4-5 year window.

Today I suspect it’s closer to 3 years.

SMU BB better show real improvement next year or RL will be on the hot seat in Yr 3

Villanova went from Sweet 16 in 2021 and Final Four in 2022 to its current #151 in the NET rankings.

Don't we have a player on our roster who has had a hand in both of these free falls?

He was a part of the Lou team that finished 3-15 in their last 18 games last year when the collapse really got rolling.

Do you people think? Or is it all just about bourbon-driven feelings rants? New coaches get more than 15 minutes before the flame-toting mob comes. Judge him six games into the 2024-25 season. Not now.

Totally agree to give the new coach some time and an off season to recruit from the transfer portal. However, we should not get comfortable with accepting less than mediocre success and finishing up toward the bottom of the AAC. With this said, is anyone at SMU accountable for the numerous missteps over the past several years?

It is a bit interesting to see one of our peer schools struggling as well. We can hopefully learn from each other to restore our programs.

SMU on its best day doesn't get within light years of Villanova on its worst day.
