Women's basketball falls at Temple; earns No. 5 AAC seed

Mustangs Fall In Regular Season Finale

PHILADELPHIA (SMU)- The SMU women's basketball team dropped its regular season finale to Temple, 68-62, on Wednesday night at the Liacouras Center.

Four Mustangs scored in double figures. Jessica Peterson's career-high 19 points and nine rebounds led SMU (16-11, 7-8 American Athletic Conference). Savannah Wilkinson reached double-digits for the 11 straight game, scoring 10 points and grabbing five rebounds. Chantae Embry and Jasmine Smith both added 10 points. Smith grabbed seven rebounds and recorded six assists.

Smith, Peterson and Wilkinson combined for the Mustangs 22 first quarter points. Peterson's 10 points and six rebounds propelled SMU to a 22-19 advantage after the first frame. The Mustangs trailed 32-30 at halftime.

Trailing by as many as 10 in the fourth quarter, SMU rallied back starting with Chantae Embry knocking down a pair of free throws that propelled an 8-0 run, cutting the deficit down to two points. After an Embry layup tied the game with 2:15 left in regulation, the Owls scored five straight points to regain the advantage, ultimately sealing the victory.

Temple??
Bad loss. We look better this year from what I've seen, but have we had a signature win yet in Wilson's tenure? Cal? UCF?
She inherited a train wreck from Mays, but I had higher hopes this season.
