Our guys played a much better 2nd half but our perimeter shooting leaves a lot to be desired. Good finish against a team that gave our guys a test. I like the way our guys responded in that 2nd half. A couple more warm up games this week before we face real competition

Was at the game, was happy the crowd was as big as it was. Not much to cheer about though.

Outside shooting was horrendous, some shaky FT shooting, and some silly TOs. Rebounding saved us.

Hopefully this was just first game jitters, listening to Coach Lanier after the game, he said he was really disappointed because the team had been practicing so hard but it didn't translate to the actual game. Very concerning how much we leaned on the starters/first subs to get a comfortable W. I do expect to see improvement over the next couple and hopefully we will be ready to give the Aggies a good game.

Let's hope it was just 1st game jitters but yes, our perimeter shooting was horrendous. Phelps is clearly the "alpha" on this team but I liked seeing Harris sow up as someone who might be another reliable scorer. Last year, Nutall was inconsistent and we need a lot of production from this backcourt. Tyreek Smith showed to be a capable banger inside pulling down 10 rebounds in only 20 minutes of play. This game was played at a playground pace with both teams running up and down the floor and I was impressed by Phelps dishing out 5 assists against only 1 turnover. The 13 team steals was good to see. Based on last night, my concern is what this team is going to look like in the half court as not everyone is going to want to run with us.

Why would this not be considered an exhibition game? They are NAIA, so doesn't that mean the game does not count as far as rating and tournament consideration? I'm not up on the current rules, so if its a dumb ? forgive me.

Not mad, just curious.

Tyreek Smith is a rebounding machine.

Also, I heard somewhere that Denver Anglin might be the team's best outside shooter, and he was out. So maybe his return will help.

It doesn't count as a Quad 1-2-3-4 game for purposes of a team's NET rating which plays a role in determining the NCAA Tournament field. The ESPN commentators said Lanier scheduled this team so they could play a quality opponent (NAIA post season qualifier) without having another Quad 4 opponent on this year's schedule
