Rough stretch for Wisconsin losing @ last place Michigan and now getting throttled 78-56 @ Rutgers. Dayton's loss @ VCU last night is another blemish on our non-conference record. Beat UNT and win comfortably please!

FAU in yet another battle on the road @ Wichita State today. Wichita State is 8-3 at home this year and FAU is only 3-3 on the road, but FAU has consistent clutch scorers so I expect them to pull out yet another road win today. Now 51-48 FAU under 15 minutes

Wichita State came back strong to send their game against FAU to OT but it was all FAU in OT. Final score 95-82

USF looking really good at home today against FAU. Bulls are up 46-31 at half.

Charlotte up 36-25 on Wichita State at half.

It's going to be a battle for those top 4 seeds in the AAC Tournament

FAU @ USF was one heck of a game. USF was up 25 points with 8:30 to play and FAU scored 46 points in a little over 8 minutes to get to within one point before USF hung on to win 90-86. USF remains in 1st place one game ahead of Charlotte who beat Wichita State today. FAU falls to 10-3 and SMU can tie them for 3rd/4th place with a win against Memphis today.

We will find out in our next 3 games vs Memphis and @ FAU and @ USF whether this SMU team will be a contender or simply a pretender

Another big game today with UNT @ UAB. A win from UNT would put some distance between SMU and UAB assuming SMU can beat Memphis today

USF has got to be the story of the AAC this year. New coach comes in from Kennesaw State bringing 4 of his best players and with 9 new faces they have now won 11 in a row after losing @ UAB by 4 points on January 7th. This team struggled early but is really coming together and clearly has the talent to hold on and win the AAC regular season and possibly the tournament. They have a very favorable schedule with SMU visiting Tampa and then having to play @ Charlotte but otherwise they play lower level teams the rest of the way.

Hard to analogize December to February, but Duke just beat FSU in Tallahassee by 9; SMU won there by 11.

All in all it was a good night for Mustangs MBB. A team that was 1 game ahead of us lost and a team that was tied with us lost. And lowly UTSA almost pulled off a huge upset of USF.

A very good night for SMU's chances of earning one of those top 4 spots as Memphis crushed Charlotte 76-52 reminding us how good teams that are coming off disappointing losses tend to play with maximum effort. You know we will get FAU's best effort tonight after they suffered that loss @ USF!
Meanwhile, who expected Rice to smoke UAB in Birmingham? Rice won 94-71 in one of the real surprises last night.

Dayton lost to George Mason, a Quad 2 loss for the Flyers

UTSA really let me down last night, I devoted an hour of my time and actually watched that second half. The Roadrunners had that game won. They were up 5 points with about two minutes to go and never scored again. Missed a critical one and one, missed easy shots at the basket, committed silly turnovers. Also, when they were trying to foul when it was still a one point game, they got an intentional foul call against them which gave USF two free throws and the ball back. To the credit of USF, they drained all their critical free throws.

Huge two game stretch here, biggest of the season. Two wins, and we should at least be on the bubble for the NCAA, maybe even in the field on most brackets, Two losses and we will have to finish strong to get one of the four byes. A split pretty much keeps us where we are now, firmly in charge of one of the byes, which is not an entirely bad thing.

Hoping for a sweep, but will be happy with a split.

You know what they say about good teams and bad teams....

I think we have to win both to have a chance at a tournament bid.

#16 Dayton lost last night as well. Did not help us out. Would be good if they keep winning, along with Florida State, Arizona State, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and A&M.

Big weekend for these teams this weekend:

This weekend we should all be Aggie Fans as they take on #5 Tennessee - Aggies have lost three in a row including an embarrassing loss to Vandy.

This weekend we should all be Moutaineer fans as they take on #6 Iowa State

This weekend we should all be Seminole fans as they take on NCAA bubble team Clemson

Badgers still have #12 and #3 to play and could make some noise in B10.
