Lanier will get a chance to compete in the new ACC. With NIL you never know. Good Jimmy and Joes can make you a better coach.

I remember Bandoumel asking K.D. if he wanted to "run it back" and try one more year at SMU but Davis was having none of it. Don't know if Memphis just offered a better deal for him to jump ship or what his reasons were for leaving but clearly Memphis offered a better returning roster than anything Lanier was going to be able to put together on short notice.

I’m sorry, in this case the 2nd scenario is most definitely not true. They disrespected the man that resurrected the the program from the ashes. LB certainly didn’t need money, he was probably still receiving checks from Charlotte. He did however deserve respect and appreciation. SMU mistakenly thought that Mr Illinois State was the reason we were winning and could keep the show going. WRONG! SMU actually tried to put a show clause in LB’s contract. THAT is called no respect.

That is on Lanier. You think Rick Pitino or Larry Brown wouldn't have been able to retain KD?
